This just in

A nice email just arrived from iiNet:
Good news - Your high speed, permanent Internet access is now active on
your line, and your Bliink account is ready for you to set-up.

Just have to wait for the hardware to arrive and we are in business. It's only taken 6 months to get broadband but I'm finaly there.

So what is everyone running at home? Zone Alarm, McAfee Firewall? What do you recommend I use to protect my PC and all my PC's that are networked together.

Sopranos was is heating up for the season final.

Lucky we're in for another season ...

Although I think someones is about to become VERY DEAD before this season out.

Also ALIAS has returned for some QUALITY SCREEN viewing. I have decided my screen is too small for this type of show - and are now looking for a much larger one. Something like they have at TELSTRA DOME should suffice. ; ]

My thoughts are :

Tiny Personal Firewall 5.0 Professional

available for $49 US from www.tinysoftware.com

The product is rather insaine as far as firewalls go - it operates as a INDUSTRY STD FIREWALL would : and makes use of a GUI that makes the whole thing rather easy to navigate.

It appears to be one of the smoothest ecconimical / efficient 'true' FIREWALLing products without going to LINUX or a DMZ / proxy solution.

I personally use Sygate - I found it more stable and more configurable the zonealarm. There's a free personal edition and a pro (which you have to pay for). Welcome to the broadband world!

ZoneAlarm Pro rocks... bit of a pain to get the hang of but pretty solid...

Zone Alarm can now be purchased from Computer Associates (company I work for) as EZ Firewall. You can buy it from Vet at www.vet.com.au. The product was actually re-branded here by my team, and.... well, I can't speak for McAfee or anybody else, but I can tell you that I know the future of EZ Firewall and it looks bright.... can't say any more here unfortunately.

Up to you. :-)
