Nothing ever changes

Good to see things haven't changed. How predictable are these fricken Tigers?

Maybe we could lend you the MAGICAL J. HIRD for a match ... but that basically means we would lose that week - so probably not. Oh well ... things could be worse... you could be stuck clinging to an OLD FAITH for CARLTON. : )

I hear ya. I have no idea what Toyota wants to do, which is why this is all so interesting. Yes, it's clear they would need the push-rod design to compete within the rules (can anybody in Japan remember how to build one of those?). I'm not going to enter the Holden vs Ford exclusive club battle :-) I support the driver (Ambrose) more than Ford. I've never been a fanatical Ford or Holden man. I can't understand that line of thinking. I'll buy the brand that makes the best car at the time. And on the race track... I'm supporting the driver and couldn't care what team he drives for. That's just me. Everybody is different. That's why I would support any car company that wants to enter. I'd rather see cars designed for the race, not the race designed around the Holdens and the Fords. But I do understand I'm in the minority here, and most long-time V8 fans would flame my ass for such terrorist statements.

yep, i know toyota build a V8 for the lexus range. but they'll need an engine that complies with the current category rules. maybe they should change the rules, as 11 years down the track both falcon and commodore are no longer running the 5 litre engines that the category was based around. but they're also talking of "slowing" the cars down to add more passing as it's slowly tuning in F1 - bloody boring. and although i love V8's, i just refuse to watch races with no passing. (a great category for action is V8 brutes). so if toyota was to build a new engine, it'll need to be a 1960 circa pushrod design, just to comply. i can't see it happening. also why change something that isn't broke? to me it's all about holden versus ford. australian's might drive toyota's and the like, but you're either a holden or ford man (or woman). when you think of V8's, it's holden and ford, not toyota, mitsubishi and the others..

J: Did you drag him off in ya wagon? ;-) Yeah, he sure can drive, if you ever watch his feet it is scary, even if he is having a shit season. No disrespect to him, but I'm an Ambrose fan all the way.

Boy Wonder: Toyota build a V8 sedan. It's called the Lexus LS400 and LS430. The fact that it isn't 5.0L doesn't matter. The stock Commodore is a 5.7L and the Falc a 5.4. These production engines have *nothing* in common with what is on the race track anyway (I'm sure you know). So if Toyota enter, they will be building a new race engine anyway. Stuffed if I know what kind of car they would enter though.... I mean... what body shape? I can't imagine the LS430 on a race track. I'm really curious to see what they are doing (apparently there's a story on this in the current V8 Supercars Magazine).

I say bring it on!!!

Shemster,

BTW V8 Supercars 2 ROCKS on the xbox.. nuff said.

Posted by: J at May 28, 2004 11:16 AM

but Toyota don't build a V8 sedan.. who's engine will they use? as the category is limited to 304 cubic inches (4.9 - 5 litres)

I feel your pain, but I know nothing about footy (although if I must have a team, it's the Tigers :-) Maybe you should turn your attention towards the V8 Supercars? Go Ambrose, go! (currently 2nd, after the Holden boys had a good run last weekend). At least there, you've got a good change of your "team" winning. There's only two teams, after all. *grin* (rumours that Toyota wants to join one day too, if the yobbos can possibly accept the idea of a V8 Toyota).

PS: So now that my son is sleeping through the night, here I am posting way past my bedtime. *shrugs*
