Ocean Grove Pix

Hi all. What a week it's been. The Tigers had a wonderful pre-season, so what happened to them this weekend? A 62 point loss. I think that's 18 losses in a row.

Here are the pictures I promised you all when Michelle, Daniella and I went to Ti-Tree Village in Ocean Grove. Mmmm, that smell you breathe in when you walk into one of those cabins. Will have to go back again.

going to the beach what's this? I wanna go home now lets go back to the beach

A Tiger Win

Over the weekend the Tigers did a good job of beating the Brisbane Lions by 44 points. What makes this win quite good was that the Lions fielded pretty much a full strength side. Could Terry be making a difference? Only time will tell.

Ocean Grove

Hi all. Back from Ocean Grove. The three of us decided to take advantage of this long weekend and go away as a family to Ti-Tree Village. We stayed in a little log cabin next to the beach which was absolutely wonderful. Through the years Ti-Tree village is a place we have stayed in many a times. Each time having been with a large group of friends with plenty of alcohol consumed.

This time round was a completely different affair. The little one got to play at the beach and touched beach sand for the first time. She decided to eat some as well. That one second as a parent that you let go of her, she decides to face plant it into the sand. Cried a little and then was as good as gold. I have some cute pix that I will post later.

Motor Show 2005 Pictures

Here are a few pictures from this years show. I love the Ford GT ( 0 to 100 in under 4 seconds, wow). The Mini Cooper S with the John Cooper Works kit pictured here is valued at 100 clicks. Each sports seat alone was worth 6 clicks.

Torana

Ahhh, the hopefully new Holden Torana. Love the shape. I even love the colour. As a previous owner of an LC Torana (my very first car), I would love to see them back on the production line. Why they ever replaced them with the front wheel drive Camira still baffles me to this date.

I'm left with two questions. Will they go ahead and make it? Will it be rear wheel drive? (Bring the rear wheel drive back again)

Vroom 2005

Ah, It's that time of the year again. The F1 Grand Prix is here in Melbourne and the Melbourne Motorshow has started as well. A great time for any rev head.

Yesterday was a good day. As it's the 10th anniversary of the GP in Melbourne there was a free open day to get in on the action. Well, working across the road from Albert Park Lake kinda made it easy to pop on over during me lunch break.

Check out the first image. This is the view directly out of my window next to my workstation. The next few are in the venue and the final two are from a window in our boardroom.

Today we had the V8s zoom by and then the F1s scream by. I love that sound.

The New 3rd Generation MX-5

Thanks to blueyes here's a link to pictures of the next generation MX-5.

What are your thoughts? I love the back. The flared wheel arches when viewed from the side have an RX-8 feel to them. Twin fart tubes, woohoo. Not sure about the front. All in all, it is a beautiful piece of machinery. (I must admit, I was far more impressed when I first eye-balled a 2nd gen MX-5 back in the late 90's)

Time for Fitness

Well it always takes an event or a trigger of some sort to make you look at yourself and decide it's time to start exercising for the sake of fitness, health and even vanity.

Last Saturday, I went to an engagement and had several relatives comment on how I've chunked up lately. Well seeing that lately i've been having back pains and have progressively put on weight since I got married, these comments had a pretty heavy impact on me. But in normal John fashion, I had forgotten about the comments the very next morning, until...

Until I hopped onto the scales and found I was 0.5kg away from hitting the 90kg mark. That my friends was the trigger. When I got married 8 years ago I weighed approx 75kg, now I weigh 89.5kg.

As of yesterday I have decided 'It's Time'. Michelle has agreed to support me at home and stop me from eating all the sweets I go crazy on when I get home from work each night. At work I have Barbs (an Australian Tri-athlete champ) keeping me honest.

By posting this I hope I've put myself in a position that forces me to follow through. I will periodically put up my progress in the hope it motivates me.

Lets see how I go.
